A jewel, set in a deep valley on the Mpumalanga escarpment, Sabie is a charming village surrounded by the largest man made forests on the earth.

Forming a dramatic backdrop to the town are Mount Anderson, the highest peak of the Mpumalanga Drakensberg and Mount Mauchsberg.

An area of exquisite beauty, visitors to the area also have their aural senses soothed by the constant murmur of cascading waterfalls and gurgling mountain streams.

Dating back to the gold rush years of the 1880s, Sabie is renowned for its Hiking Trails which range in length from 3 kilometres to 79 kilometres, or from a half day to a 5 day trail.Cycling Trails and fishing along with abseiling are other activities on offer.

Sabie hosts South Africa's only Forestry Museum where exciting exhibits such as the "talking tree" make for an interesting outing for both the young and their caretakers.

Be prepared to become a fan of architect Herbert Baker after visiting St Peter's church built in 1913.

Tree ferns, Transvaal Proteas and Red Hot Pokers thrive in the region and are enjoyed by Sabie's numerous bird species.

Sabie certainly has something for everyone!
